Ingredients
  • 1 lb. Of Fresh ground beef
  • ½ lb. Of fresh Italian sausage
  • 2 ½ tbs Olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 yellow bell pepper chopped
  • ½ tsp. Minced garlic
  • 2 - cans tomato paste
  • 1 can diced Italian tomatoes
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅔ cup water
  • 2 tsp. Dried basil
  • 2 tsp. Oregano
  • 1 tbs freshly ground pepper
  • 2 tsp. Salt
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 box Lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • ½ tbs olive oil
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • ½ cup Mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • ½ cup Ricotta
Instructions
  1. Remove outer casing on Italian sausage.
  2. Crumble sausage in skillet.
  3. Add fresh ground beef.
  4. Brown meat and sausage in skillet.
  5. Break up meat in skillet as it cooks.
  6. Drain grease from meat and place meat in separate bowl.
  7. Now heat olive oil in same skillet and add peppers, onion, and garlic.
  8. Sauté until vegetables are tender.
  9. Now add meat, tomato paste, Italian tomatoes, water, oregano, salt, pepper, basil, and bay leaf.
  10. Bring to a gentle boil.
  11. Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer about an hour to allow flavors to mingle.
  12. Mixture will have thickened a bit.
  13. Now blend the Ricotta, egg, and Parmesan in a bowl.
  14. Prepare a 13 x 9 x2 Lasagna pan by spraying lightly with cooking spray.
  15. Arrange three uncooked lasagna noodles in the bottom of the pan.
  16. Spread a light layer of Ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
  17. Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese.
  18. Now spread with a generous layer of tomato meat sauce.
  19. Repeat layers in the same order.
  20. Sprinkle the top of the lasagna with the remaining Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese.
  21. Baked the Lasagna in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 50 minutes.
  22. Cheese should be a lovely golden brown.
  23. Remove from oven and let stand for about 15 minutes before serving.
