Ingredients
  • 1 box Lasagne Uncooked
  • 3 pounds Mozzarella
  • 1 tsp. Minced garlic
  • 3 finely chopped onions
  • 1 can chopped whole tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 ½ tsp. Oregano
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 2 tsp. Sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ½ tsp. Fresh Basil chopped
  • 1 ½ tsp. Fresh leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • 16 ounces button mushrooms chopped fine
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 lb. Spicy Italian sausage
Filling:
  • 3 pkgs. Chopped frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed to remove excess water
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 container Ricotta cheese
  • 2 ½ cups grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
  1. Brown ground beef , sausage, onion and mushrooms over low heat till done.
  2. Add tomato paste and tomatoes, sugar, basil, parsley, and Oregano.
  3. Let this sauce simmer for at least an hour on low.
  4. While sauce simmers, prepare the filling.
  5. In a medium sized bowl with the spinach, beaten egg, Ricotta cheese and ½ of the Parmesan Cheese.
  6. Blend together well with mixer until fully incorporated.
  7. Assemble Lasagne:
  8. Prepare a 13x9x2 pan by spraying with cooking spray.
  9. Lay uncooked Lasagna noodles on bottom of pan to cover bottom, overlapping noodles if necessary.
  10. Ladle ½ cup of meat sauce over the noodles in pan.
  11. Add Mozzarella cheese on top.
  12. Then Lay another layer of noodles on top of meat sauce.
  13. Top that layer with the Spinach- Ricotta mixture.
  14. Add a generous portion of Mozzarella cheese on top.
  15. Top this layer with another Layer of Lasagne noodles.
  16. Repeat layers, finally ending with meat sauce.
  17. Add the last of Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan on top.
  18. Bake in 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for approximately 35 minutes.
  19. Cheese on top should be a light golden brown. Lasagne should be bubbly as well.
