Hearty 10 Layer Crockpot Lasagna Recipes

Something you might have noticed about lasagna is that it is usually square or rectangular, and lasagna noodles are also rectangular, but what about crockpots? A lot of crockpots are round, although some people choose oval ones since they can cook a whole chicken in there. If you are using a crockpot to cook lasagna though, you can simply break the lasagna noodles up and overlap them to fit the crockpot. This makes no difference to the finished lasagna.

You can cut some portions into squares but the rest will have rounded edges, which does not detract from the lasagna at all. In fact it gives it a charming homemade look. The following recipe features pasta sauce and you can use your favorite pasta sauce or spaghetti sauce from a jar or you can make your own.

The recipe also features ground beef so if you are using a sauce which contains beef you can omit this ingredient or use less. This recipe features ten layers of lasagna noodles, since some people like a lot of pasta in their lasagna. You can have as many or as few layers as you like though, so if you only want five or you fancy twenty, go for it! Continue reading

Crockpot Lasagna Recipe with Eggplant and 4 Cheeses

This exciting crockpot lasagna recipe features four kinds of cheese – mozzarella, parmesan, Romano, and ricotta. These cheeses work together well and give a nice depth of flavor to the lasagna. As well as the cheese, this recipe calls for eggplant, ground beef, onion, garlic, and more, giving a fantastic result.

You can leave out the eggplant if you like, or swap it for zucchini. Use your favorite kind of spaghetti sauce or tomato sauce in this crockpot lasagna recipe, perhaps adding a little Tabasco sauce or hot sauce too, if you want. Grinding some red chili into the lasagna does the same job. Although lasagna is not typically a spicy dish some people like to add a little heat to it.

If you like really cheesy lasagnas, this one might become one of your favorites. Cooking it in a crockpot means all the flavors will blend beautifully. Since you are using no-boil noodles and browning the beef, nothing has to cook or soften a lot, so you just need to cook the lasagna until the noodles are soft. The main reason for using the slow cooker is to blend the flavors. Also, slow cooking can be very convenient if you are going out and want your dinner to cook itself. Continue reading

Simple Beef and Tomato Crockpot Lasagna

This easy crockpot lasagna recipe is so easy to make and it tastes every bit as good as an oven-baked lasagna. This recipe makes quite a lot, so if you serve it with a salad on the side, you should have some left over for a tasty lunch the following day. You can use regular lasagna noodles or whole wheat ones in this recipe. Both will taste good. You can even omit the beef if you want to convert this into a vegetarian lasagna, or use a meaty spaghetti sauce instead of the tomato sauce and the beef.

If you do not want to pre-soak the noodles, then give the recipe an extra hour. You can also cook it on low if you want to leave it all day. On low it will take about eight hours total to cook. Adding the ingredients hot to the crockpot also cuts down on the cooking time but if you just want to add everything cold then you can do that. You do need to brown the beef first though, since this improves the texture and flavor a lot. It also cooks out the fat. If you add the ground beef raw it will cook in the crockpot but it will be very greasy and fatty, since the fat is not drained off but absorbed into the lasagna.

This is a very simple recipe and you do not need many ingredients. The meat sauce is a basic mixture of ground beef, spaghetti sauce and basil, then you have lasagna noodles and ricotta cheese. If you want to add extra ingredients like garlic, onion, mushrooms, or Italian seasoning, then you can add those too. You can also add some parmesan cheese to the topping if you want.
